a contradiction?

According to some studies people is living longer.... the probability of going more that 100 years old is growing bti at the same time it seems that climate change is increasing the rate of deaths... a contradiction?

  1. Where do you think the most damage to health is going to be done by climate change?

    1. Not sure, at the beginning I thought from vector-borne diseases, but I read at Poveda et all (Cap 6 in El Niño and the southern oscillation: multiscale variability and global and regional impacts / edited by Henry F. Diaz, Vera Markgraf. 2000) that EL Niño has also produce some of these problems in Colombia. On the other hand I am trying to make a distinction between Climate change and pollution

  2. Interesting contradiction! On what matrix is probability measured? I would think that demographics vary based on the spatial, socio-economic and temporal statistics. Climate change has increased risks to peoples' lives especially those in vulnerable spots. Perhaps the 'lengthy lifespans' are pegged more on better lifestyle choices and the socio-economic stability?

  3. You are right. When you look at the mortality tables in some countries (topic that affect directly to insurance companies related to annuities among others) you will see that the probability to be over 100 is increasing, some private studies show that people in developed countries is living longer and the life expectancy is growing very fast. Even the topic is mentioned in a document form the Bank of England
